Established over two decades ago by a group of individuals who recognized the potential of Apple products, Digicape has evolved into a premium Apple reseller in South Africa.

Digicape has built its reputation on expertise, innovation, and personalised service serving a broad customer base ranging from consumers to scaling businesses and large corporates.

To successfully achieve their growth ambitions, Digicape required a payment gateway that gave them the ability to scale their ecommerce operations securely and easily.

The Challenge: Navigating a Complex Payment Landscape

As Digicape’s online presence grew, they encountered significant challenges in managing their payment infrastructure. They had as many as ten different payment options integrated into their website. This resulted in a complex and inefficient system where each payment option required separate development, management, and reconciliation processes.

Managing multiple payment gateways and portals became challenging, consuming valuable time and resources. The disparate nature of these systems made financial reconciliation a laborious task, with data coming in various formats from different sources.

Digicape recognised the increasing importance of offering a diverse range of payment methods to cater to their broad customer base, but integrating and managing each one individually was unsustainable. They also identified the need for robust security features to mitigate the risks associated with online transactions.

The Solution: A Unified Payment Experience with Peach Payments

To address the challenges Digicape faced, they partnered with Peach Payments. Peach Payments offered a unified platform that consolidated most of Digicape’s existing payment options into one system. This single integration significantly reduced the complexity of their payment infrastructure, eliminating the need to manage multiple gateways and portals.

Key aspects of the solution included payment method aggregation, where Peach Payments seamlessly integrated numerous payment methods, including Mobicred and RCS, allowing Digicape to continue offering familiar payment options while simplifying their backend.

Peach Payments provided a single, intuitive dashboard for simplified management, where Digicape could view and manage all transactions, making it easier to understand their payment landscape. The platform offered enhanced security features, including a clear system for identifying potential fraud situations, allowing Digicape to quickly address suspicious transactions.

Post-implementation, Digicape found that onboarding new payment methods like “pay by bank” became significantly easier, often requiring just a click of a button. The platform also facilitated the potential integration of newer methods like Apple Pay. Finally, the unified platform and standardised reporting significantly improved financial operations and efficiency, particularly in settlements and reconciliation.
The Results: A massive Black Friday and improved efficiency

During the Black Friday month, which coincided with their go-live with Peach Payments, Digicape experienced an astounding five times year-on-year growth in online transactions. This success was attributed to the combination of attractive deals and the availability of a wider range of convenient payment options facilitated by Peach Payments.

Additionally, the accounts department saw an incredible increase in efficiency due to the ability to manage and filter all payments within a single dashboard. Reconciling transactions with their ERP system became significantly easier and faster, saving valuable time and resources.

The centralized dashboard and reporting features allowed Digicape to track online activity on an hourly and daily basis, enabling them to make informed business decisions quickly. They could analyze customer drop-offs and payment portal performance to optimize their online sales strategy.

Finally, by offering a wider array of payment options, Digicape could cater to the preferences of more customers, leading to a smoother and more inclusive purchasing experience. The stability of the payment gateway during peak times also contributed to a more reliable customer journey.
